Laura Valentine, MA, LPC, NCC

Picture
Laura Valentine, MA, LPC, NCC; is a graduate of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program of North Carolina Central University. A Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in North Carolina, and National Board Certified Counselor. Mrs. Valentine is experienced in working with individuals who have mental health diagnoses, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief, oppositional defiant behavior, ADHD, Autism, parenting issues, stress and anger management, individuals suffering from substance abuse issues and children who have learning disabilities. Her clinical interests include spiritual counseling, grief and loss, stress management, marriage and family issues, conflict resolution, career and financial counseling.

Deeply passionate about her work; the visionary became frustrated with the slow transformation of child and adolescent clients, and went in search of a more effective way for change. Mrs. Valentine noticed a common thread in her young client's issues- Parents and Education. Working one-on-one with a child who is deeply influenced by their environment, would not be sufficient. Treating the family as a whole; meant greater and more positive outcomes. By challenging each family member to reach his or her highest potential- All are empowered to have fulfilling lives.

Mrs. Valentine considers counseling to be a form of teamwork. The client and counselor working towards a common goal of achieving wellness. Trust is the foundation of a healthy counseling relationship. Clients’ feelings are explored through the use of empathic listening, unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and autonomy.
